What is the cost of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

According to the CDC, twenty people, every 60 seconds in the United States, will become the victim of domestic violence from an intimate partner.  This form of abuse can range from severe mental and emotional abuse with bruising to homicide. The emotional cost that domestic violence has on a family is indescribable and most often requires deep deliverance and healing that medications and psychological help can’t resolve.  The spiritual warfare is real and it is what EMwomen seeks to elevate.

But even beyond the physical and emotional cost for this wicked form of control and manipulation, there is a significant, monetary cost as well.

Consider this:

• In the U.S. alone, domestic violence costs $4.1 billion in medical, healthcare and unemployment costs.
• Less than 1/5 of those violently harmed ever report their injuries.
• Domestic violence is the third leading cause of homelessness among families in the U.S.
• The average cost to go to the emergency room for a female survivor of domestic violence is $483.

And when deliverance is not fully achieved, 18.5 Million is the number of mental health visits that will be incurred by survivors of intimate partner violence each year.

You never know who is sitting beside you.

Every day, you are interacting, sitting with and even working alongside victims of domestic violence.  They suffer silently, often believing there is no solution to their history.  But Jesus came to provide FREEDOM to those who are bound.  Whether the chains of bondage are self-inflicted decisions that lead to prison, addiction or regret, or the many chains that come along with abuse, God has provided a way of escape through deliverance and healing ONLY found through the Holy Spirit.

While we encourage medical help and counseling, we also know that some spirits and mental chains of bondage can only be broken through deliverance and prayer. 

That is why EMwomen seeks to go the extra mile and provide the emotional and physical support women and girls need to break free from the memory of pain and step into a destiny of purpose!
